Operation Trek, the initial mission to Solomon Islands which ran from 4 November 2000 to 15 March 2002, saw ADF support to the Solomon Islands Peace Monitoring Council (PMC) and the International Peace Monitoring Team (IPMT).

Between November 2000 and October 2001, the operation involved a range of RAN and RNZN ships, including HMAS Manoora, Tobruk, Kanimbla, Darwin, Newcastle and Melbourne, with HMNZS Te Mana and Manawanui.
