Introduction
Forward Operating Base Gleno is a major Australian facility in the western sector of Timor Leste.

Commander of the International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in East Timor, Brigadier Bill Sowry, hosted a tour of Forward Operating Bases (FOB’s) for key leaders in the East Timor security sector, including Secretary of State for Defence Julio Tomas Pinto, as well as members from the Attaché community and the East Timor Police Development Program. The CISF and his guests visited East Timorese CDF, Brigadier Taur Matan Ruak at the new F-FDTL border posts in the western districts at Tilomar and Tonobibi, before heading to Gleno and Baucau by Blackhawk.

Prime Minister of East Timor, Xanana Gusmao, accompanied Commander of the International Stabilisation Force, Brigadier Mark Holmes, to the Forward Operating Base at Gleno, to make a personal address of appreciation to Alpha Company, 3rd Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment.
