1.    Climate Change Policy in New World Economy

The paper explores the likely impact of the new economic growth path (China and India) on CO2 emissions. It argues (based on a meta-analytic modelling approach) if emissions are to be reduced in the near term, policy measures to reduce global energy consumption and to accelerate the diffusion of existing non-fossil fuel technologies are urgently needed.

2.    Lessons from Six Urban Regions – Climate Change Adaptation

The study provides lessons from the experience (climate change adaptation) of six cities: London, New York, Boston, Halifax, Vancouver and Seattle. It outlines a systematic process for municipalities to adapt to a changing climate. The study presents examples of municipal adaptation policies and specific adaptation measures and actions.

3.    Climate Change Adaptation Strategies for Northeast USA

The paper argues that climate change not only challenges a region to maintain its economic viability, but also holds some opportunities that may enhance economic development, human well-being and social justice. It discusses adaptation strategies available to various sectors and communities in the Northeast United States.

4.    Vulnerability of Korean Forest to Climate Change

The study assesses the vulnerability of Korean forest by using the CEVSA (Carbon Exchange between Vegetation, Soil and Atmosphere) model. It simulates the forest response to climate change by considering temperature, precipitation, forest succession, fertility and land cover. The assessment finds more than 30% of the total study area to be vulnerable to climate change.

5.    Community Adaptation to Changing Shorelines – UK

The study ascertains the outlook and opinions of targeted representatives (business interests and residents) in the area of coastline running north from Caister to Hemsby. It informs the Borough Council of the main issues it may wish to consider when formulating its response to the draft Shoreline Management Plan (SMP 3b).

6.    American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting – 2007

The AGU Fall Meeting is being held from December 10–14, 2007 in San Francisco, USA. The Meeting provides an opportunity for researchers / consultants to present the latest issues affecting the Earth, the planets, and their environments in space. Abstracts may be submitted by 06 September 2007.
