The paper explores the likely impact of the new economic growth path (China and India) on CO2 emissions. It argues (based on a meta-analytic modelling approach) if emissions are to be reduced in the near term, policy measures to reduce global energy consumption and to accelerate the diffusion of existing non-fossil fuel technologies are urgently needed.

The study assesses the vulnerability of Korean forest by using the CEVSA (Carbon Exchange between Vegetation, Soil and Atmosphere) model. It simulates the forest response to climate change by considering temperature, precipitation, forest succession, fertility and land cover. The assessment finds more than 30% of the total study area to be vulnerable to climate change.
