1. Impacts, Adaptation and Vulnerability – IPCC Report

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group II publishes a summary note for policy makers on the assessment of progress towards a better knowledge of climate change impacts, adaptation and vulnerability. It focuses on the relationship between observed climate change and recent observed changes in the natural and human environment.

2. Climate Change Risks in Low Elevation Coastal Zones

The paper presents the first global review of the population and urban settlement patterns in Low Elevation Coastal Zones (LECZ). It examines critical issues involving these zones and risks of climate change. It states that reducing climate disasters in coastal settlements requires a combination of mitigation, migration and settlement modification.

3. Integrating Adaptation in Water Sector Policies

The study examines domestic policy frameworks in the water sectors of Mexico, India, Argentina and Zimbabwe. It identifies how adaptation to climate change can be integrated into these frameworks. Key elements of the analysis are legislation, institutional structures, water management tools and policies, and information availability and use.

4. Disaster Risk Management: Practices and Future Needs

The study uses grounded examples in Mexico. It provides insights into how an integrated approach to disaster risk management (DRM) and climate change adaptation can be built. The country study identifies current practices reflecting future adaptation needs. It assesses changes required if such practices are to address future risks.

5. Scotland – Climate Change Trends

The study focuses on identifying climate change trends in Scotland. It provides the regional and spatial detail that national averages mask. The study does not attribute causes for trends. Many trends identified are beyond the range expected from natural variability. Scotland already faces climate change and needs identification of adaptation measures for the future.

6. Climate Change and Business Conference

The 3rd Australia–New Zealand Climate Change & Business Conference is being held on 30-31 August 2007 in Brisbane, Australia. Adaptation is a strong focal point of the conference.
