1. Adaptation Options for Australian Primary Industries

The study provides an overview of the steps that need to be taken to adjust to the ongoing changes to the Australian climate. It looks at each of Australia’s primary industries, including cotton, sugar cane, livestock, rice and grapes. A key message from the study is the importance of building adaptive capacity among farm managers, agri-businesses and industry groups.

2. Environmental Management, Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Adaptation

The report provides an overview of practical experiences that deal with environmental management in relation to climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction (DRR). On the basis of field data and literature, it stresses the need to actively promote environmental management and eco-engineering as practical and appropriate means of disaster risk reduction.

3. A Consultation to Inform Scotland’s Adaptation Framework

This consultation introduces climate change and the resulting impacts in Scotland. It provides an explanation of the process of climate adaptation and what would be required to achieve a well-adapting Scotland. The consultation proposes the strategic principles and priority actions that should underpin the Scotland’s climate change adaptation framework.

4. Sustainable Future through Science and Technology – Africa

The paper outlines key environmental challenges (climate change, land and water degradation, and biodiversity loss) facing Africa. It identifies areas of best practice, and addresses the question of how Africa and its international partners can go about harnessing science and technology interventions to attain Africa’s development targets.

5. ORCHID: Climate Risk Screening – Technical Appendix

The report summarises climate change in India related to climate variables of temperature and rainfall. It examines the implications of these changes for secondary impacts on natural and human systems. The report introduces the concept of climate vulnerability, and summarises existing work to identify the indicators and distribution of vulnerability in India.
