1.    Evidence and Implication of Climate Change in Alaska

The paper presents a broad array of evidence showing the Arctic’s system-wide response to an altered climatic state. It compiles data on variables impacting the broader arctic system, demonstrating the interdependence between the physical regime, the ecosystem and human society.

2.    Lessons on Climate Change and Adaptation from Africa

The workshop report reviews the state of knowledge on Africa and climate change. It identifies capacity constraints in African research networks limiting their effectiveness in both research and influencing climate adaptation policies. The report draws out lessons for policy-makers involved in developing programmes on climate change in Africa.

3.    A Sustainable Mitigation and Adaptation Risk Toolkit

Climate-Smart (Sustainable Mitigation and Adaptation Risk Toolkit) is helping Halifax Regional Municipality and its partners to develop management and planning tools for climate change impacts. It also develops strategies for decrease in global warming through reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Lessons learned are replicable in other municipalities across Canada and overseas.

4.    Impact of Global Warming on Human Development

The report represents an unprecedented coming together of leading environmental and development organizations with decades of experience working with poor communities across the world. It highlights challenges facing the environmental and development communities. The report points out urgent priorities including global risk assessments, additional resources, disaster relief and effective development models.

5.    Climate Variability, Change and Food Security

The paper examines household food security from a livelihood perspective for a number of regions around the world. The paper draws on case studies from semiarid regions in Nigeria, Sudan, South Africa, and Mexico and teases out the commonalities and differences from the case studies to learn lessons about climate variability and food security at livelihood scale.
