1. Adapting to Climate Change in Agriculture Sector – Australia

The paper examines the possible impacts of climate change on Australia’s agricultural sector. It indicates that the regions (highly dependent on agriculture) could experience considerable economic losses as a result of climate change. The paper explores the potential role of adaptation in reducing the economic costs of these impacts.

2. Vulnerability Assessment – Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro and Shanghai

The paper examines the vulnerability of three coastal cities (Mumbai, Rio de Janeiro and Shanghai) to climate hazards. It applies a more traditional approach (scenario-based models / top-down approach) and couples this with recent advances through bottom-up vulnerability assessment. The paper assesses some of the political obstacles to better disaster preparedness.

3. Post-2012 Climate Regime and Future Market Mechanisms

The report examines how a future market mechanism could fit in the various scenarios being considered for the post-2012 period. It considers a wide range of options and approaches. The report argues that a successful future regime will need to balance the demands and expectations of both developed and developing countries.

4. Climate Change Impacts and Solutions – US Northeast

The report (based on three climate models) summarizes how climate in the Northeast of US is projected to change under the higher and lower emission scenarios of continued human emissions. It argues if emissions are not significantly curtailed, warming will substantially change critical aspects of the region’s character and economy.

5. China – Climate Change and Local Development

The paper addresses climate change mitigation and adaptation policies (national and local level) in China. It presents three case studies; Beijing, Guangdong and Shanghai. The paper stresses the need for international cooperation with the aim to bridging the financial gap for integrating climate policies into the local development in China.

6. 3rd International Solar Cities Congress – 2008

The 3rd International Solar Cities Congress takes place in Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide, South Australia from February 17-21, 2008. The congress supports UN energy and climate policies by stimulating cities’ interest into becoming benchmark cities committing to ambitious emission reduction goals.
