1. Australian Energy Policy and Climate Change

Over the years, there have been important developments in Australia’s climate change and energy policy. The report examines the direction of Australian climate change policy and how and why change is required over the long term. It articulates Engineers Australia’s position on climate change and energy policy.

2. Urban Health Vulnerabilities to Global Climate Change

The paper reviews the specific health vulnerabilities of urban populations in developing countries. It argues that there is a need for a more active input from the health sector to ensure that development and health policies contribute to a preventive approach to local and global environmental sustainability, urban population health, and health equity.

3. Establishing the Core Elements for a Future Climate Regime

The report attempts to create a shared vision of what is needed to avoid dangerous climate change and shows how this can be achieved. It helps build decisive political support (over the next 18 months) amongst key countries for a new international climate change agreement that will effectively address climate change beyond 2012.

4. A Framework: Gender, Climate Change and Human Security

The study explores the inter-linkages between gender, climate change and human security. It presents country-specific case studies from Senegal, Ghana and Bangladesh. The study delivers a set of policy recommendations for improving human security in the context of climate change from a gender perspective.

5. Adaptive Responses to Changing Climate in Arctic

The CAVIAR (Community Adaptation and Vulnerability in Arctic Regions) aims to enhance the theory, empirical understanding, and practical application of the adaptation processes in communities across the polar region. The paper outlines the CAVIAR program in terms of its rationale, goals, integrative methods, structure for comparison and synthesis, and practical applications.
