The report investigates the possible future impacts of climate change on Australia’s National Reserve System (NRS), and the consequences of these impacts for the development and management of the reserve system. 2. Urban Areas – Climate Change Effects and Adaptation
The paper (based on the concept of climate analogues) provides an intuitive visualization of climate change effects on urban areas, by replacing the change of climate (in time) with a change of a city’s location (in space). It offers a holistic approach to think about how cities adapt to different climates.

3. Mainstreaming Adaptation into the Disaster Management – India
This paper develops an approach that looks at institutional structures and interfaces as a way of identifying the possibilities and actions for mainstreaming climate change adaptation in the disaster management context. By mapping out institutional structures and interfaces, it highlights possible entry points for adaptation into disaster management structures in India.

4. Organic Agriculture – Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy
Climate change is a threat (extreme weather conditions, water stress, drought, health effects) to agricultural communities, particularly in lower latitudes. The paper outlines how Organic Agriculture (OA) as an adaptation strategy (AS) and mitigation strategy (MS) addresses these threats. It presents some key critical points of OA as an AS and MS.

5. UK Local Governments and Climate Change – Report
The report critically evaluates local government’s track record on climate change and makes recommendations on how the local government response must be improved. It identifies four key areas which local authorities need to work on: transport; planning; housing; and tendering and re-tendering for new and existing services.

6. Interdisciplinary Climate Change Symposium – DISCCRS IV
DISCCRS IV symposium will take place from 02-09 November 2008 at Saguaro Lake Ranch, Tonto National Forest, AZ, USA. It aims to connect natural and social scientists engaged in research related to climate change, impacts and solutions. Deadline for applications: 30 April 2008.
