1. Fire-Weather Risk and Climate Change: South-East Australia
The study, a significant methodological improvement on earlier fire risk assessments, provides an indication of fire risk in South-East Australia by using Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI) and Grassland Fire Danger Index (GFDI). It assesses potential changes to fire-weather risk factors associated with climate change including: fuels, terrain, land management, suppression and weather.

2. London’s Transport System Adapts to Climate Change
The paper describes some of the challenges faced by London’s transport systems that will be intensified by climate change. It explains what is already being done to address them, and what still remains to be done. The report considers the impacts of climate change on transport infrastructure and users by giving four case studies and outlines how to plan ahead to adapt to these impacts.

3. Climate Change Adaptations for Sustainable Livelihoods
The paper reviews literature on monsoon climate variability and consequent adaptations. It also looks at the implications of such adaptive systems for sustainable livelihoods. It discusses the economic aspects of climate change, damage estimates for a doubling of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration and strategies for responding to climate change.

4. Adaptation Finance, Aviation Emissions and IATAL
The paper highlights political advantages and moral reasons to link together the problems of adaptation finance and aviation emissions. It proposes an International Air Travel Adaptation Levy (IATAL) or an emissions trading scheme with auction revenues hypothecated for adaptation as an ethically, economically and politically attractive solution.

5. Water Resources in India and Climate Constraints
The article examines the potential for sustainable development of surface water and groundwater resources within the constraints imposed by climate change in India, as well as future research needs. It summarizes vulnerability issues associated with the present and potential future hydrological responses due to climate change and highlights areas for further research.

6. Adaptation Strategies and the Trade-Offs Approach in Philippines
The paper conducts a cross-sectoral analysis of recommended adaptation strategies to determine potential synergies and conflicts and identifies “best bet” and “win-win” adaptation strategies. Focusing on a Philippines watershed, it examines adaptation strategies for three sectors: forest / upland agriculture, water resources, and local communities.
