The report identifies trends, issues and principles about energy costs and consumption in Australia. It explores the substantial benefits available from energy efficiency and other effective responses to climate change. The report presents many possible policy responses to climate change that might be considered and supported by the Australian government.

2. Key Challenges Facing China – Urbanization
The study examines key facets of the urbanization process, highlighting both the challenges for and options open to policy makers. By stitching together the implications of migration, poverty, urban financing, governance, energy use, and water consumption, it provides an integrated perspective on the recent past and the medium-term outlook for urban change in China.

3. Methods and Tools – Uncertainties for Adaptation Planning
The report focuses on the assessment of climate change uncertainties. It reviews existing frameworks for decision making under uncertainty for adaptation to climate change. The report explores how different ways of including uncertainty in decision making match with uncertainty information provided by the various uncertainty assessment methods.

4. Development Futures in the Light of Climate Change
Climate change is increasingly recognized as a potential threat to human development. The paper outlines the current debates in development and climate change. It examines key issues and alternative ideas of development through looking at past, present and future implications for development and global society.

5. Food Security, Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction
The paper examines the implications of different conceptual frameworks for food security in the context of a changing climate, and introduces the interlinked fields of adaptation and disaster risk management. It highlights financial and institutional architecture to address these challenges. The paper attempts promoting discussions for achieving food security in a changing climate.

6. Climate Risk Case Studies – Expression of Interest (EOI)
IFC has initiated a series of assessments of the risks posed by climate change to private sector investments. IFC-CCU Adaptation Program (AP) invites consulting firms to indicate their interest to undertake an assignment to elaborate case studies focused on climate risks to private sector investments. Expressions of interest may be submitted no later than 20 August 2008.
