1. ANU Brief: Climate Change and Public Policy
In the past decade climate change has become one of the world’s biggest public policy issues. This brief examines the policy issues of climate change from a global, regional and a national perspective. It offers a range of insights useful to policymakers and all those interested in the climate-public policy dimension.

2. Implications of Climate Change for Urban Transport System
The study finds that potential changes in climate over the next 50 to100 years could disrupt transportation services in U.S. Central Gulf Coast region. 27% of major roads, 9% of rail lines, and 72% of area ports are at or below 4 feet in elevation, and could be vulnerable to flooding due to future sea level rise.

3. Quantifying the Vulnerability to Climate Hazards – India
The paper quantifies the vulnerability of India (Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Orissa) to three climate extremes; drought, floods and cyclones. It addresses the need for a structured development of indicator sets and appropriate aggregation mechanisms. The paper develops the indicators of exposure, sensitivity and adaptive capacity, and assesses vulnerability based on averaging of normalized indicators.

4. Climate Change Adaptation in Water Sector – Strategic Input
The paper addresses adaptation to climate change in the water sector within three broad elements of context: emerging scientific consensus on the nature of the climatic risks society will need to adapt to; conceptual perspectives on adaptation within social and environmental systems; policy and implementation debates over responses to climate change.

5. Impact of Climate Change on International Security
This report addresses the impact of climate change on international security. It considers how the full range of EU instruments/actions can be used alongside mitigation and adaptation policies to address the security risks. The report concludes that it is in Europe’s self interest to address the security implications of climate change.

6. Education Walking to Threat, Hope and Possibility – Conference
All Our Futures conference will be held in the University of Plymouth, UK from 9-11 September 2008. It aims to explore, in the context of climate change threat to our planet, how to shape and deliver an education for sustainable futures that brings hope, possibility and transformation. Abstracts for individual paper proposals may be submitted by 18 April 2008.
