National Coastal Climate Adaptation Agenda – Australia

The report discusses how Australians should work together to prepare for the future climate change challenges on the coast. It identifies the key elements of a national coastal adaptation agenda, including: the need for government leadership; effective communication and community engagement; enhanced national policy and planning consistency; and improved information for decision-making.

Climate Risks and Adaptation in Asian Coastal Megacities

The report examines climate risk and potential adaptation responses in Manila, Ho Chi Minh City, and Bangkok. It finds that there is likely to be an increase in the number of persons exposed to flooding in 2050 under different climate scenarios in all three cities. While the report focuses on three cities in East Asia, the policy implications resulting from the comparative analysis of these cities has broader relevance for assessing climate risks and identifying adaptation options in other coastal areas.

Evaluation of Adaptation Plans – Australia, UK, and US

The paper evaluates a set of 57 climate adaptation plans from Australia, the UK and the US against a suite of 19 planning processes identified from existing guidance instruments for adaptation planning. It finds that there are opportunities for institutions to make better use of existing guidance for adaptation planning and the need to consider the broader governance context in which adaptation will occur.
