Policies for Energy Efficiency in Buildings – Workshop

We would like to notify you of a workshop we are organizing on the 18th November during the Energy Delta Convention in Groningen, in the Netherlands (http://www.energyconvention.nl), on the issue of policies for energy efficiency in buildings.

The Energy Delta Convention in Groningen, the EDCG2008, will take place on 17-19 November 2008. The Energy Delta Convention is a high-level energy conference with a unique interdisciplinary platform for senior business, science and government experts.

The 2007 edition has been attended by 550 international energy experts in the field of energy transition. Some 200 people (candidates and recruiters) attended the Energy Delta Job Market, so altogether some 750 delegates visited Martiniplaza, the conference venue. All relevant information can be found in the Energy Convention’s webpage (http://www.energyconvention.nl).

The workshop ‘Policies for energy efficiency in buildings’ is intended to provide an analysis of various policy instruments used in EU countries that enhance the implementation of Energy Performance in Buildings (EPBD) Directive. More specifically the workshop will address, among others, the following research questions:

  • Experiences of implementing EPBD Directive and perspectives for actions for energy efficiency improvement beyond the Directive
  • Policy instruments in the national and regional level for implementing EPBD. Assessment and knowledge transfer in EU countries.
  • Proposals for new policy instruments beyond EPBD discussed in EU countries and analysis of their interactions.
  • Stakeholder participation approaches for implementing EPBD in the national and regional level.
  • Translating modelling results of policy effectiveness of policies of energy efficiency improvement in buildings to policymakers.

We expect a fruitful discussion among policymakers, researchers, companies in the built environment and other relevant stakeholders. We would kindly like to ask you to forward this email to your colleagues that you consider they might be interested. If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send us an abstract or notification until 10 September. You will be notified on acceptance in the first week of October.

We would be glad if you could declare your interest in participating to me personally (v.oikonomou@rug.nl) and then register to the Energy Convention webpage. An on-line registration form can be found at the menu register. Please note that speakers are not required to pay any registration fee.
