Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network

Consultant to The Rockefeller Foundation’s Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network (ACCCRN)

Terms of Reference

Time frame: 3 months (minimum) to 6 months (maximum).

Location:  Based out of Bangkok, Thailand, with 3-4 weeks in New York. Asia location is flexible, but Bangkok is preferred.

Travel: Extensive within Asia.

Overall description:  Support the implementation and day-to-day management of the Rockefeller Foundation’s grant-making initiative on building climate change resilience in Asian Cities.  See linked description of the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network. [PDF, 644 Kb]

Specific activities/tasks

  • Serve as first point of contact with local coordinators for Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network.
  • Coordinate with Rockefeller Foundation staff in New York and in Bangkok.
  • Manage paper flow and documentation of reports/findings/meetings relevant to initiative.
  • Manage programmatic aspects of grants management.
  • Work directly with and support key grantees on both:
    1. continued engagement with cities, and
    2. development of small grants at a local city level.
      Specific cities will be identified by early September.
  • Identify and perform due diligence on list of potential organizations that could become core grantees in region.
  • Visit and work directly with city stakeholders, as appropriate.
  • Network and identify list of potential technical partners (both in region and global).  This will be done in cooperation with partner organization, the Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET).
  • Network with larger group of donor/academic players in region—document activities and identify potential future linkages.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience, preferably complex, multi-stakeholder, multi-national projects.
  • At least 5 years of work experience, with substantial exposure to the nonprofit or nongovernmental sector.
  • Deep experience and networks within Asia.
  • Knowledge or expertise in climate change is not required.
